About Mr. Frommelt

Teaching Recognition

On behalf of my work with the Rural Schools Collaborative’s Young Educator’s advisory council, I was asked if I wanted to take part in an interview to help explain what it is like to be a Rural Educator in the world that we have today.  I took the opportunity to help explain what I was seeing as an educator and to also reflect on what other rural educators have done to help me in my own career. Check the story out!

As a UW-Platteville Alumni, my old professor Jessica Brogley had reached out early in my career to do an interview. She had heard about my STEAM position and was interested in how our rural school districts in the Driftless Region are creating dynamic opportunities. Check it out here!

Awards and Notable Experiences

Eagle Scout

As part of the Scouts BSA program, the Eagle Scout Award is awarded to the individual who has completed a service project entailing around 120 hours. The individual must also have demonstrated leadership, the ability to live by the scout oath and law, and earn twenty-one merit badges including required merit badges meeting the foundational knowledge of being an active citizen. Approximately only 2% of all scouts within the scouting programs history ever make it to the Eagle Scout rank. My project was making three nursery bat houses designed to protect and raise approximately 800 bats per house. This was to help fight against the white nose syndrome within my local town.

NASA Microgravity Researcher

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has a unique program called High Schools Uniting with NASA to Create Hardware (HUNCH) This research opportunity is given to a select few high schools across the nation. The goal is for each student lead group to go out and plan, fabricate and test their own experiment. They then go down to the Johnson Space center Microgravity division hanger to have their experiment be verified, secured and then tested with the facilities that they provide. The goal of each experiment is to better the lives of astronauts aboard the International Space Station. Here is the news interview.

Google Student Ambassador Team Education and Outreach Chair

The goal of the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee (UWM) Google Student Ambassador Team (GSAT) is to go out and spread the words about the great tools, tips, tricks and gear that Google has for students. The Education and Outreach section is specifically designed to encourage development and education of new technologies along with encouraging engagement with technology within their field.
